Another Year, Another Lan
Well thats another lan done, even though I was unable to get the days off work I needed, I still managed to get there and back over the weekend, a nice 200 odd mile round trip… completely charged on red bull, vodka and other energy substances. I am now on the come down from that caffiene trip.
Arriving on the Friday night, much later than planned (circa 11pm at night) after lapping the entire area of Stoneleigh park just to make sure I had the right place (you cant trust satnav can you…) And I had to make sure there were no zombies loitering.
2.5mm Jack – WTF – Demotivational Microsoft
I hate Microsoft and their shinaningans sometimes.
I cant use my pc headset on the xbox360 because they decided to de unify the 3.5mm jack idea which everyone uses to plug just about anything that is headphone or microphone related into anything audio related, just to make a few more bucks? Why don’t I just throw my xbox on the floor, or wait lets just throw the cats at it and see if it topples.
DAMN YOU MICROSOFT.
Luckily a few suppiers make a reasonably cheap, and quite useful wireless headset for the 360 the ear force x31 or x3, only thing is I dont have a wireless controller, but that is on the list of things to get because if you like me have a couple of playful kittens you’ll understand what fun they find in trying to chew, jump on and pull out your controller wires whilst your playing.
Not only does all this stick in me like a giant xbox shaped thorn in my side, but last night the kittens were running around trashing my room and managed to take out my xbox, throwing it at least 2 foot across the room, smashing it onto the floor and dislodging everything.
Now im pretty sure its runing hotter, and ill have a visit from the red rings of death very soon. screw you cats, screw you microsoft.
Finally a controller that makes sense…
For years and years, (I would say since the beginning of time but that may be a bit too much exaggeration) consoles have used a certain layout for their controllers.
Then the Wii came along and messed everything up, and now the PS3 has something which many gamers have always taken for granted (well, PC gamers).
A Mouse. The fragfx from a company named SplitFish (logo looks a lot like Creative’s Fatality gear, so maybe its another gamer inspired product, looks like it to me)

Friday afternoon, winding down now towards 5pm, listening to the Dire Straits.. Who I’ve never really paid much attention to before, but what can you do? (leave a song on repeat and not realise, that’s how chilled out we are at the moment)

These are something I stumbled upon earlier in the week, but figured I should probably bookmark them to share at a later date, whilst I dont always use my 360 for a lot of gaming, it does prove to be a rather useful, if excessively loud DVD player. Breaking our alternate realities?
I have a problem, I’m quite average.
By that I mean that in real life I’m a horrible shot, I can’t snowboard to save my life, and the list goes on… In fact the list of things that I can’t do beyond a mundane level is much longer than the list of things that I can. Busy Week, New Gaming Blog is Friday News
Well it’s been a busy busy week here at JustBliss Towers, the heavens have just opened and we are experiencing a nice tropical storm, in the South of England, lovely.
To explain the lack of updates would be a good idea so here we go…
AllUPlay Gaming Blog
This was a little puppy of mine from years back, something I began to work on and then had to put on the bench to ferment and grow into a more mature cheddar, or something to that effect. Anyway the important thing is it now has posts, it has reasons to have posts, and there will be another site like this coming soon. The site is powered by gamers, real gamers blogging about games, hardware and accessories, not reviewers or journalists. A true gaming blog.
Valve announce Left 4 Dead 2
Valve have announced that Left 4 Dead is returning from.. well It didnt have time to go anywhere but at least it looks like some more content is coming, hopefully it’ll be a little more fun than the fad it has generated.
All I ask for is that they take into account the Zombie Mod which was so successful on CS:S with the movable objects to create your own blockades and holding areas to try and distance yourself from the on coming horde.

If its coming out on the Xbox360 or the PC or both hasn’t been confirmed as far as I can see, but hears to hearing some updated hellish zombie screams down our headsets in the future.
Speaking of which, the Astro mix amp is a hefty bit of kit, but well worth the money and could prove to be useful if your wondering how to use xbox 360 headsets with left 4 dead, as apparently it seperates the voice and the game channels and gives you choice over which dominates! Only place you can get these in the UK is from Lime so check it out.

Multiplay iSeries – Better toilets and showers than last year?
Not sure if any of you are on the Multiplay forums, or have attended their lans?
I am still in two minds as to whether or not to bother again this year, I used to go year after year but since they moved out of Newbury and up to Coventry it’s not been the same. Too many xbox gamers with their Rockband setups and other strange 360 accessories cluttering up the places! Not enough air flow, it was very good to see so many computers / gamers in one large room, but im sure the place was generating its own weather system due to the pockets of heat, oh and did I mention the lapse security and theft of all the gaming headsets and other hardware that occured.
I wonder what it’s gonna be like this year. Or if I should even go?
Although being a brand new venue last year it was exciting to have to explore the massive grounds to find a shower that no one else knew about, i dont have much hope for this year however. I miss Newbury.

Zombie Apocalypse
There I was minding my own business, finishing up my second coffee for the day, (recovery juice for being ill all week, cant beat it) a certain article caught my eye on twitter, which lead me to the article over on IGN, the link is below if you want to read it yourself.
It’s as if all my zombie dreams are coming true! First Left4Dead, undeniably one of the greatest, co-op xbox zombie games, now ive seen a new, soon to be great, zombie game, which looks to have a different play style to the zombie shooter genre, looks like it could be a keeper! Could that sentence be any longer!
Zombie Apocalypse looks set to come out on the PS3 and the Xbox360, and fortunately it isnt an FPS (first person shooter)! Coming from a PC gaming background ive never felt comfortable trying to aim on any console without some kind of bizzare gaming accessories which are ‘especially designed for xbox gamers’ or the uber elite, whats wrong with just a mouse?
Id love to get my hands on a copy of this, even if it is just a demo. Sorta reminds me of L4D but from a totally different view, and rather than trying to escape the horde, more like kill as many of the damn things as you can! A mashup between Dead Rising and L4D? Either way, let me at it!
I look forward to smooshing some zombies with some of you, in the not so distant futureverse.

Essential Zombie Survival Guide
