A few months ago someone joined the company I happened to be working for at the time, everyone else listened to music on their iPods or otherm p3 players but this guy was relentless in his demand for music… on demand! That’s when I was first introduced to the web app ‘Grooveshark’, and it really seems to be picking up, it has various social buttons, and a vast quantity of music which is searchable, and streamable!

Give it a go, test to see what music you can find – if you have any under the radar kind of tastes. It works off of a P2P style of sharing, members share their collections, which in turn sprouts forth this huge network of music available on demand (at least thats how I think it works?) It has an auto play feature which you can enable to help uncover some gems, music that it thinks you like based on your selections, and if you create an account you can set up playlists and favourites so you don’t need to search everytime you load up the web app!

Sure it seemed abit slow in the mid afternoons over here in the UK as everybody in the states would start to wake up and begin streaming, but over the last month a new server seems to have popped up and I think its coping pretty well, no more “bandwidth too low” messages. Perfect for when you’re at work and have become bored of that stale 15 tracks of music you have loaded on your phone. Not to mention the plus side is that you can choose what music you want to listen to compared to the radio playing MGMT – Kids every other track… ARGHH! It’s on again!
