Race Kart Killer? Abarth’s hot hatch

without comments

When you have a shopping car which can hit from 0 – 60 in 7.9 seconds, it shows the hot hatches are returning, becomming a more popular choice again with manufacturers, as Fiat Abarth have shown us.

Abarth 500 – Vs – Racing Kart on track

The Abarth 500’s improved chassis is matched with steering that betters the original’s, softer rear springs and heightened grip. Then there’s a ‘Sport’ button that sharpens it up even further and gives endless amounts of driver delight.

It might not have a top speed of 160mph like a Nissan Skyline, nor look as menancing, but as a cute little road car, that can be used for the shopping, she can hold her own when needed.

The 500 is apparently what happens when Abarth, Fiats tuning establishment which are Brabus to Mercedes, get hold of a town car and decide effectively strap rockets to it and double the horsepower from 69 bhp to 135bhp.

I wonder how many ladies out there are trying to get hold of one of these cute, but pokey cars?

Slightly crazy idea for getting a new car

without comments

Everyone pays, 1 person drives, everyone benefits – sort of like a personal taxi, but posher. A chaffeur prehaps?

Okay hear me out, So there are 4 of you from the same area, or maybe that many total number of co-workers on the way to work, problem is 2-3 of these people don’t drive or own a car, they expect YOU to pick them up and give them a lift into work for a bit of petrol money.

But I’ve only got a small car!

So you’ve only got a small car, or the car you have is getting old, lets face it, you’re bored sick of the damn thing and you don’t really want to be picking everyone up in the morning in it, but what if there was some kind of incentive..?

It seems lease cars like personal contract hire cars can be a useful way of running a car. You take your three people who depend on you for lifts, you pick a car that will fit the 4 of you in comfortably, maybe it costs £150 or so a month, you split it between the four of you!

car leasingNot everyone has a barrel of cash that they can throw about for a new car, get your friends and or co-workers to help instead.

That way you get a nice shiney car, they are paying their way by paying part of the cost per month. PCM and car leasing sometimes offer maintenance and insurance as part of the price which could reduce your out-goings even further in a month.

Hire Car Savings

  • Excess money from selling your old car
  • One cost divided between the number of people benefiting
  • Reduced maintenence costs for your car if its included in the monthly cost
  • You get new car for a fraction of the payment
  • If the insurance is included in the cost that could be another monthly fee removed or reduced

All you need to do is convince these three co-workers or friends that it’s a great idea! Oh, and make sure they payup on time every month or don’t leave work… But if you could gaurentee that you’d be okay wouldn’t you?

That… or just bug where you work for a company car for nothing! Maybe it needs a little refining still, I think I’m onto something big – here I come Dragons Den.

Anthony Bliss – Page One

without comments

In an effort gain a rightful listing place on the ‘engines which control the searching of the tubes, and to mark the birthplace of a new category named ‘bloggage’ I’ve decided to be abit more pro-active and promote myself some more on JustBliss.

It appears there is a London photographer that shares the same name as me, (Anthony Bliss, if you havn’t already guessed) this puts me in a tricky spot as London is not too many miles away from here, as the crow flies it’s only about 30 miles to the inner city traveling directly down the motorway, it doesnt help that Google has inbuilt geolocation targeting actioned on all of its searches.

Clearly this imposter has decided to mimic my life and seems to have an interest in art and photography like myself, I can’t help thinking if his signiture would be similar to mine, or if we ever met the universe would suddenly come to an almighty halt and the fabric of matter would simply dissolve around us, leaving us to do battle in some superhero-esk manner.

To get back on point, the main areas Ive dipped into in the past would be:

That’s right, me, the REAL Anthony Bliss is not a one trick pony! Currently working on SEO and Online Marketing I seldomly do any further design work unless contacted directly for special requests.

Where do horses live? Why do they have people teeth

with 2 comments

equestrian_stablesSo it turns out horses have their own little houses, an example being  ’equestrian buildings‘. I thought they just lived in fields, but turns out some posh horses get to live in a land of luxury.

timber_shedsI’m really not a horse type of person, they freak me out a little to tell you the truth… They might look noble and powerful but surely its not just me who thinks they have human teeth? What the hell is up with that?

Only reason why I am even writing about horses is because one of the missus’ friends does quite abit of equestiran compeitions and other horsey things in Kent. Timber buildings like these didnt strike me as homes for horses until now, but apparently I was wrong.

Looking into them (not that I have any animals large enough to put in them) but from a reseacher point of view they seem to work out to be quite cost effective. Going on the prices from this place: equestrian timber buildings seem to range from around £600 all the way up to and exceeding 2 grand! Similar to what you would pay for in a normal garden shed but with a more specialist application I guess.

It might be abit overkill for a few cats to live in though, we’ll just stick to the rabbit hutch for now.

What a waste of lighter fluid…

with one comment

Oh wait! Bring more lighter fluid!

I’m not really a fan of Mac-esk things, I own a G1, sure it might not be as fancy or gimmicky as an iPhone, infact that’s why I bought the thing. It’s also completely fireproof as its made out of a superadvanced ceramic polymer based grease. Honestly, it is.

Apple, I appreciate your innovation, and style, but I feel that all of the mac products should spontaneously combust at the clock chimes midnight tonight! Muhahah!

Build a shed from 100 yards

with one comment

Why must art take up so much room? What do you do with all those old paintings, sketches, photo, a3 books full of experiments. Why do sheds take so long to put up with just a hammer? These are the questions I find myself asking the past weekends.

The missus’ father is quite an avid artist, everytime I go round there is a new sketchbook filled with drawings, or ideas and he is rapidly running out of room in his ’storage shed’.

They have a garden shed which is full to the brim with manly tools and workbenches and random bits of old art, and the garden is a slightly odd shape, you know the kind where you have a random 12 foot of concrete on raised about 3 foot in the air for no apparent reason, which you can do anything with? No? Well this garden has exactly that, I’m also sure they dont want to cover of the last of their grass.

Im tempted to splash out on a playhouse for him, but don’t fancy testing his humour or wasting my money. Perhaps we can get, hmm a garden workshop like this and cut it in half, then bolt the damn thing to the side of the existing timber shed! Makes sense to me?

I suggested tunneling under the concrete and making a bomb shelter-esk storage room for all his pictures, but now he’s started making sculptures the size of chairs! Anyway it looks like we’ll be turning the garden into a building site for a few weeks or fabricating something at the very least, and if that’s what I’ll be doing then ill request a nail gun. Ive tried building workshops and other complicated wooden structures like these garden sheds in the past, its almost impossible without some kind of voodoo. My voodoo is a nail gun and between 50 – 1000 cups of tea, depending on the size.

Which brings me to the other meaning of this post, above is a video with possibly the coolest thing on earth (well, so far this week). This is a gun that has been converted to fire nails, there is a mini gun on there too!

New TV Channel from Renault

without comments

renault dealer

Renault has gone and launched their very own TV channel now, looks like it’s not only football clubs who have such a luxury anymore. Renault TV is the name, obviously switching inbound and outbound media in order to have more control of their marketing. This can only mean good things for Nissan and Renault following their alliance.

Prehaps this new strategy will give a fresh insight to the automotive industry, as well as  allowing established Renault dealers around the country a chance to improve sales.

Im looking forward to the Motorsports part of it, as a avid follower this may make the brand a more common household name. Depends if its on Sky or not!

Looking for Figaro Specialists…

without comments

nissan_servicing

I’ve been granted with the joyous task of servicing the girlfriend’s little Figaro soon as it has been a while since it was looked at, only problem is that the MOT will be due soon and I’m starting to think the whole thing might be beyond my skill level, as its falling apart.

Scoping around the Internet for somewhere local that is reputable and will do a good job, can’t seem to find anywhere special but I’ve been told there are a few Nissan dealerships offering servicing in Kent… Could be quite fortunate for my sake! (as long as she doesn’t find out, I can steal all the credit!)

After about half an hour of procrastination, of which I am an expert by now. Ive found a couple of sites, one that took my interest as its just up the motorway in Dartford, check out Motorline. The best thing about this website is the fact I can apparently book a service online?!

Why dont ALL garages offer this!!

It’s like ordering a pizza, but for your car :)

Dealer reputations mean a lot to me, I’ve heard many of horror stories from others in the past which is why I usually work on my cars myself, or find somewhere that can back up their claims.

If you’ve had any good (or bad!!) experience with any main dealers in the past (especially Nissan servicing), leave a comment below about it, gives me something to look at in the evenings!  :)

Online Cousins let loose to twit…

without comments

As I’m being nice and sipping a coffee at work, not to mention you’ve come all this way, I may as well give out some shameless promotion to the following twitter accounts.

This one being mine:
http://twitter.com/anthonybliss
Art Student come Website Designer come Online Marketer.

This one being my Cousin:
http://twitter.com/SteveFenn
Avid Tweeter, based in Bristol who is currently developing and building websites whilst at Uni.

I admit I was a slower one to follow twitter, but Steve was on the case from the turn of the new year. Following a uni student who likes interacts over the internet more than he communicates to his close family in person can be quite an insight, and the pictures of him being completely drunk and completely sharable too! He’s currently working on a portfolio website which will be up soon, something to do with producing animals? Llama Productions or something equally as strange. Looking forward to a catch up this easter.

Monday, one down four to go

without comments

Looking forward to this week, promises of a four day week, with one of those days spent learning about some tricky analytics software just outside of Kent.

Sadly it’s not looking like an all expenses paid day out, and more that we’ll have to drive down early in the morning in one of the new cars. Although saying that it might end up with me playing chauffeur in the old man’s car, opposed to taking my abused and used Nissan – which wouldn’t work very well as it is presently full of wheels, tyres and only has two seats anyway!

Now that the weekend is out of the way (which I might add seems to go far too quickly these days)
